Calcination is a thermal treatment process in the absence or limited supply of air or oxygen applied solid materials such as ores to bring about a thermal decomposition. This decomposition includes driving off carbon dioxide from limestone, removing crystalline water from bauxite and gypsum and driving off volatile matter contained in petroleum coke.

Gouda Refractories has ample products and solutions for various furnaces used for calcination such as shaft kilns, rotary kilns, multiple hearth furnaces and fluidized bed reactors.
