Power Generation

Until a few years ago the need for refractories in this industry was limited to some lightweight castables and ramming mixes around the burners. Recently new technologies have been developed for power generation and therefore the need for refractories in this industry is also changing.

Our construction and services department is responsible for maintenance at a lot of the normal (oil and gas) power centrals in the Netherlands and Belgium. However, GOUDA's experience is not only limited to these standard installations. GOUDA is also involved in the modern power generation like fluidised bed furnaces. GOUDA built one for Lurgi in India and recently one in the Netherlands for Krupp. Gouda has also built 2 very big fluidised bed power (coal fired) furnaces.

Another modern technique for the power generation is the gasification of all kinds of waste material like wood, sunflower pits and all kinds of natural waste. In these installations a material, mostly sand, is used as a transportation medium. For these applications GOUDA developed special products, such as our AK 53 E brick for example.
For these applications GOUDA also works in close co-operation with engineering firms like Host and Lurgi.
